To enter the competition you need to be a registered member of the Young Photographer of the Year site. If you're not a member, you'll need to register on the site - this only takes a matter of minutes. Entrants into the 2007 competition will also need to re-register into this year’s Young Photographer of the Year site.

Once you're logged in, you'll automatically be directed to your age group (of the age you'll be on the closing date of 30th September 2008) to upload pictures or view other pictures within your age group that have been entered into the competition.

2. We want to know as much about your photo as possible when you enter so please ensure you fill in your photo name, description (what we're looking at and how you got the shot), and camera details in the information boxes during submission.

4. Once uploaded, your photograph(s) can then be viewed within your Young Photographer of the Year gallery on www.youngphotographeroftheyear.com ('my portfolio' link at the top right).
5. After the competition has closed, the winners in each category will be selected by a panel of judges and will comprise of a winner and two runners-up. The winner from each category is declared Digital Camera magazine's Young Photographer of the Year 2008!

All winners will be announced on the competition website and in issue 81 of Digital Camera magazine on 16th December 2008.
