How to enter

To enter the competition you need to be a registered member of the Young Photographer of the Year site. If you're not a member, you'll need to register on the site - this only takes a matter of minutes.

If you entered the 2009 competition and checked the box on the registration page to remember your details then you will be able to login and start uploading to this year’s Young Photographer of the Year competition straight away.

  1. Once you are logged in, you will automatically be directed to your age group (of the age you'll be on the closing date of 14th September 2010) to upload pictures or view other pictures within your age group that have been entered into the competition.
  2. Images should not exceed the maximum file size of 2MB (megabytes), in JPEG-format. Don't know how to resize your image? Follow our guide here.
  3. We want to know as much about your photo as possible. When you enter, please check that you have filled in your photo name, description (what we're looking at and how you got the shot), and camera details in the boxes provided.
  4. Once uploaded, your photograph(s) can then be viewed within your Young Photographer of the Year gallery on www.youngphotographeroftheyear.com. When logged in, click on the green-coloured link that says 'gallery for (your username)' at the top right of the website.
  5. After the competition has closed, the winners in each category will be selected by a panel of judges and will comprise of a winner and two runners-up. The winner from each category is declared Digital Camera magazine's Young Photographer of the Year 2010!

All winners will be announced on PhotoRadar.com and in issue 107 of Digital Camera magazine on 9th December 2010.
