I don't currently read Digital Camera magazine - can I still enter?
Yes, of course. Digital Camera magazine will be covering the competition every month until it closes. The magazine provides tips on photography as well as inspirational photography. Visit PhotoRadar.com to see the latest subscription offers for Digital Camera magazine.

When can I enter the competition?
The competition is open from Monday 19th April to Wednesday 14th September 2010. The results will be revealed in Digital Camera magazine and this website in December 2010.

Does it cost anything to enter the competition?
No! Unlike many other major photography competitions, it's free to enter Digital Camera Young Photographer of the Year.

Why can I only enter up to five photographs?
To keep this a fair competition and make sure we get a wide range of entries so make sure you only upload your best photos!

Do you accept film images that I've had scanned?
No. This competition is only for photographs taken with a digital camera.

Can I send my photos in on CD or DVD?
No. You can only enter this competition by uploading your photos to this website.

One of my photos has been printed in Digital Camera magazine, can I enter it in the competition?
No. A photo that has been printed in Digital Camera magazine or any other photographic magazine can not be entered into the competition.

One of my photos has won a prize in another competition, can I still enter?
No. A picture that has won a prize in a major national or international competition (one receiving more than 500 images) is not eligible for entry.

Once I've uploaded my photos into the competition, how long will it take until they appear on the website?
Your photos should be online within 10 minutes of uploading.

How much image editing do you allow?
We know that photos need some tweaking. Rule 5, says that you can use edit your photos, such as touching up a portrait, building a panorama or creating an HDR image from lots of exposures. Adding or removing major parts of a photo is not what this competition is about. If your photo is shortlisted we may ask for your original files for our judges to look at so be sure to keep them until 14th September 2010, when the competition closes for entries.

How big should my photographs be for upload?
The photos you upload must have a file size under 2MB (megabytes), and be in JPEG (also known as JPG) format. You should keep the originals of your photo as we may need to see them when we shortlist photographs. If you don't know how to resize your images, we have a guide you can follow here. We want to know as much about your photo as possible when you enter so please ensure you fill in your photo name, description (what we're looking at and how you got the shot), and camera details in the information boxes during submission. If you can't fill in all the boxes don't worry, there is a link to 'Edit photo details' on your photo's web page.

Do I keep the copyright of my images?
Yes, of course, we would never claim copyright of YOUR photographs. Please make sure you read the Rules to understand how your images will be reproduced.

Where can I find the rules?
You can read the rules here. You should also read our terms and conditions of website use and its privacy policy.

What is this icon I see ? What is RSS?
